Nail Clipping

with filing

All breeds, whether purebred or not, need regular nail trimming. Nails, unlike a dog’s coat, grow much faster. Beyond that, there are factors that speed up or slow down nail growth, for example their weight. The heavier they are, the more effectively their nails are naturally filed as they walk.

Another factor is their lifestyle. A couch potato dog certainly doesn’t file its nails naturally while walking, so they will need more regular trimming.

It also depends on the type of surface a dog walks on. For example, if we walk our dog on the beach or on grass, the nails are not naturally filed as much as if we walk them on harder surfaces like cement.

Dogs must support their weight on their paws. As the nail grows longer, if it gets too long, little by little, their weight begins to be supported on the nails (something similar would be like us humans walking on our tiptoes). If we do not return the nail to the correct place, serious, painful and costly skeletal problems can occur.

Soula suggests you pop by once a month to check your dogs nails. If the nails do not need trimming, we do not charge anything except for a good morning.
